The Shoe Snob Podcast Ep. 12 – Where Have I Been?!
It has been over eight months since I last did a Podcast video. And a lot has changed in that time. I thought my absence deserved an explanation so I wanted to give it all to you. Here are the main takeaways from the video.
Table of contents
NYC Shop Closure
In August, I closed my NYC Shop for my shoe brand, J.FitzPatrick. Our lease was coming up and after assessing my life, the world, the market, the trends etc, I decided that renewing it didn’t make sense. It was more of a weight than a positive and while I was grateful for the experience, could not justify its continued existence. Therefore, we shut it down and moved our business to New Jersey, focusing more online but also still offering a presence that someone can come to visit should they be willing to undertake the journey to NJ.
More Time For Blog Content
One thing that frustrated me about my life in the shop is that I often did not have time to make solid content. There were always distractions, noise, and something else coming up that did not allow me to stop and take the necessary time to sit down and create. While I chose the route of ‘businessman’ my passion lies in creation. I love to create unique products, content, and art but also share my thoughts, my journey, and my experience with the world in order to inspire others who had/have dreams similar to my own. I felt that my time was never enough to do that and in my new life have more time to focus, think, prepare, and execute better content.

New Dreams
As a young man, I was willing to sacrifice everything to achieve my career dreams. And I don’t regret it because our life is a journey of learning. But I have sisters that I was never there for because I was a world away. I have nieces and a son who love his cousins and now see the world so differently. I want to be closer to family and less involved in ‘what I have to do for my business’. I now want to adapt my business to ‘what I have to do for my family.’ Those new dreams take me away from the city life, the hustle n’ bustle, and closer to nature, family, and peace and quiet. That is back in the PNW, where I am originally from, and where I plan to get back to in the next few years.
All Of My Ventures
Many of you know this but many of you do not. Below are all of the things that I am directly involved with all of which suffered from my lack of time in my old life. I now want to dedicate more to each of them and while still being stretched 4 ways (business-wise), am at least able to give another 4 hours of my day to put towards them.
