The Septieme Largeur S/S24 Collection
The new Septieme Largeur S/S24 Collection is full of models unlike the Parisian brand has ever done before. They are truly branching out from the history of classically welted, leather-soled models. As the world evolves, so is the shoe industry and you are really seeing this in each new collection brought by many of the European brands. So let us take a look at the more notable ones
Table of contents

Soft Sole Suede Loafers
This is the new trend in shoes. Soft-soled suede loafers are the new scene that is quickly spreading across most of the major brands, and now trickling into the welted community. And I am not mad at it as I explained in another post. While I do not hope that these casual-style loafers replace their leather-soled counterparts, I do believe there is a time and place for them that harmonizes with a dress shoe collection by your average man.

I, for one, dress up Monday through Friday but like to be a bit more ‘relaxed’ on the weekends and/or during certain types of travel. That is where a loafer like this, for me, easily inserts itself into my needs.

White/Spectator Loafers
Septieme Largeur had a really successful collaboration with a Parisian company called Hast. In this collection, they make some striking two-tone, spectator-style loafers, in green leather with a white soft-grained vamp. They also made a tan version. These were something! The collaboration took place on their Nicodeme model and it seemed to be a big hit with many as they have few sizes left.

With the success of the Nicodeme loafer, they also made a new colorway in the same white soft-grained leather. This time with a contrasting natural sole which was not a part of any collaboration. Let’s call those Parisian chic! They also added a soft-grain black leather option, presenting a nice collection of the Nicodeme model.

Fisherman Sandals
While the Fisherman sandal is not my style at all, I do see this creeping around the menswear industry as of late. It would appear that the menswear scene is trying to revitalize this classic model that we saw popularized in the 1980s-90s. I am not mad at that as it sure beats men wearing flip-flops in the city.
They currently offer the ‘Marcel’ model in two classic colorways.
It is curious to see how style evolves though and how brands can transform their offering with a 180-degree turn. While SL still offers its classic models, the Septieme Largeur S/S24 Collection could be an interesting premonition into the future direction of the brand. As always, only time shall tell.
